Understanding the Payment Processing Screen

What happens between tapping 'Charge' and payment confirmed — and what to do if it gets stuck.

After you tap Charge, CashWrench shows a processing screen while it communicates with Stripe to authorise the payment. This usually takes 3-8 seconds.

What the processing screen shows

You'll see a progress bar and three steps ticking off in sequence:

1
Authenticating payment method
CashWrench verifies the card or payment method is valid and not flagged.
2
Verifying with card network
The request is sent to Visa, Mastercard, or the relevant card network for authorisation.
3
Confirming transaction
Stripe confirms the charge and generates a transaction ID. You'll see the Payment Success screen when this completes.
⚠️
Don't close the appKeep the app open while the payment is processing. Closing it mid-transaction could cause the charge to fail or result in a duplicate charge.

Frequently asked questions

Wait at least 30 seconds before doing anything. If it's still stuck, close and reopen the app — check Payments > History to see if the payment went through before trying again.

If the screen showed an error, the customer was not charged. You can try again using a different payment method.

The customer's bank declined the charge — this is not a CashWrench error. Ask the customer to try a different card or use the payment link option.
